Spirit Days...and Other Costumes
Okay, y'all! I don't think it is possible for me to overstate how much I LOVE dressing up in costumes to teach. The number of benefits is endless. First, it is a chance to break up the monotony of the everyday shirt and tie. Secondly, it acts as a relationship builder between my students and myself, giving them a chance to see that I do not take myself too seriously. And third of all, it is just plain fun! Spirit Days at Bishop give me the perfect opportunity to do this and stretch my creativity.

Another thing that has taken off in my classroom are themed days. So far, we only have #BowTieTuesday (which is a slowly growing international movement), and Scrunchie Thursdays. It is so interesting to me how it is always the simplest things, like me wearing a piece of fabric around my wrist, gets the most buy-in from students and makes them engaged.

The inaugural Scrunchie Thursday. It has only grown in participation numbers since then...

Dressed Up as "Fix-It Felix" for "Disney Day" in 2018. Funny story about this one... Nobody bothered to tell me that "Disney Day" was actually canceled, so I was the only person dressed up at school this particular day. I still had way too much fun, though... #ShoulderShrug
